Restore your smile and bite

What is Full-Arch Replacement?

If you’re missing all or most of your teeth, full-arch replacement can, as the name suggests, completely restore your smile. At Alexandria Oral Surgery, we offer a variety of implant-supported prosthesis, for improved comfort and improved function compared to traditional dentures.

The benefits of full-arch replacement

  • Eat your favorite foods
  • Prevent bone loss
  • Boost your confidence
  • Improved stability
  • Easier hygiene

Missing teeth can stop you from living your life to the fullest, especially when you’re missing most or even all of them. While traditional removable dentures can restore the look of your smile, they lack comfort and function. When you add dental implants to the mix, you can achieve results that not only look stunning, but actually work just like natural teeth.

The full-arch replacement process

Full-arch replacement is a multi-step process that can take place over the course of a few months. We understand it is a big commitment but the results are well worth it. Your doctor will go over your treatment plan in detail with you, but here’s an outline for what you can expect:

1

Consultation and treatment planning

You’ll meet with your doctor for a comprehensive examination, complete with advanced digital imaging, and to discuss your smile goals. Based on the state of your oral health and your discussion, your doctor will create a custom treatment plan, including any preparatory procedures, such as bone or tissue grafts, should you need them.

2

Placing the implants

Once you have been approved for treatment and completed any necessary preparatory surgeries, we will place your dental implants. Depending on what type of replacement you’re receiving, as well as your oral health and overall physiology, we will place between 2 and 6 implants directly into the jaw bone. You will be provided with temporary teeth during the integration phase of the implant process. It only takes a few weeks for your gums and mouth to heal, but it can take between 2-3 months for the implants to completely bond with the surrounding tissues.

3

The final restoration

When the implants have completed the process of osseointegration, that is, bonding with the jaw bone, we can apply the final restoration. Your doctor will check the fit of your new smile, and secure the prosthesis in place. If you’re getting an implant-retained denture, your doctor will explain how to remove the appliance for cleaning and maintenance.
